Electric Griddle

Does anyone have one of these? What do you use it for? I find them great for french toast & grilled cheese when I'm cooking for a family of 6. Makes it easier to get everyone's food done at the same time. Also great for pancakes.

ANd.... How do you clean yours? I'm assuming I can't dunk it in the water like I'd SO love to do!!! And it just doesn't seem like it's clean enough when I just use a soapy rag to wash it.... paper towel to rinse.... another paper towel to dry and make sure I got everything off.
 
I can dunk mine in water - as long as I don't submerge the pluggie thingie. I don't like just wiping with a rag or paper towel either!
 
Actually, we have a George Foreman combo grill/griddle (griddle is a little smaller than normal). I LOVE IT!! It makes the best pancakes and perfect grilled cheese! I make eggs on there also. Then on the other side I make my bacon or hamburgers.

That is actually the exact one that I have.

I dont have a choice but to just wipe this one. I am a total clean freak though, so that thing gets scrubbed as good as I can get it without submerging.
 
One of my students brought one in for a class party to make pancakes one year, lol!

I have never had one of these, it strikes me as something that would be handy if you live in the dorm at college or something (sort of like a hot pot). It would also be very handy if you make food for church brunches/pot lucks.
 
I have an electric griddle and I LOVE it. I've used it for so many things. Let's see...mini meat loaves, burgers, pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, french toast, grilled cheese, salmon patties, hot dogs, pork tenderloin, fajitas, grilled veggies, garlic toast, and on and on and on. It's way more versatile than it sounds. ;)
 
I have the George Forman model also, half is a griddle half grill machine, it is non stick so it cleans up in an instante. I highly recommend this model for any clean freak I know, nothing seams to stick to it!!!

I've got a Presto one that I bought a few weeks ago. And I like it! And yes, I DID make some panacakes with it!! You're getting me hungry for some more pancakes again!!!! Haha!!

Just yesterday, I cooked some turkey bacon and some fried eggs with it!

To my recollection, ALL electric griddles come with a non-stick-coated surface and a removable heat control that allows you to dunk the unit into the sink for easy cleaning.

Just make sure the heat control is unplugged from the unit first, to avoid being dangerously electrocuted.

Presto griddle

I just got the Presto griddle at Walmart and is is dish washer safe. It is 14 inches by 15 inches and holds a lot of stuff. Bacon came out perfect even with out a press. The drip tray is really deep also so the grease doesn't spill when you pull it out to empty it. Now I need some new ideas for things to cook aside from the usual eggs, pancakes, potatoes, etc.
 
I have a cast iron griddle that fits over the burner on my stove. Griddles are great for large families because you have a much larger cooking surface and can do several foods at once. Ask any fry cook. You could even do a pizza using a piece of aluminum foil as a tent to trap the heat. Mongolian BBQ/Stir-Fry type cooking, Panini's, grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, ham steaks and other thin meats, pan breads, and of course hashbrowns, sausage, eggs, and pancakes.

If you have room you could even use it to heat vegetables still in the can. Just open the top for venting and sit on the griddle.
 
I was going to order the square bacon pan from QVC with the square matching glass press. Now I am glad that I didn't. My new griddle is much bigger and works great. The front legs slide out so it drains well with meats and slides back in for a flat surface. The whole thing is dishwasher safe also. I am going to try pork chops tonight.
 
I have a cuisinart griddler. The grill plates are removable for easy cleanup.

I had a couple of different brands of indoor electric grills before that only lasted a year or so before the coating came off. I have had the Griddler for about 4 years now and it is still perfect. They cost about $100 and worth every penny.
 
I have had my electric griddle for so long I don't even know what brand it is. When I make a Sunday breakfast every burner on my stove is utilized so my griddle is a must have for pancakes, french toast, omellets, all eggs, amd sausage. I'm not going to get 8 npancakes or slices of french toast into a skillet all at one time.
For clean up, I just wipe it down with a damp paper towel while it is still hot.
I do have a stove top griddle that I use often too that just sits over 2 burners on the stove. It's not as big as the electric griddle though and when ever I break it out I get mad because I need the burners.
