My cook top cracked this week !

mamma_nee

New member
We just moved into our new home the end of June .. so far our Burner is getting replaced this week .

Our stove top just cracked in the middle and no one knows how it happened of course !

Our pool need to be retiled

our hot water in the master bath will only give us hot water for 2 minutes then its a COLD SHOWER to rinse off .

Our electric bill is $ 1,200 !!! I never new that was even posible !

okay.. done venting :(

the first thing is - call the electric company and find out who is tapping into your service! if that is a one month bill - something is drastically wrong - unless you are lighting your home like Chevy Chase did for the holidays!

!!!! I`ve called them _itched with them and they said it is the meter that we have and they can`t do anything ..... The previous owner had a deal with them that from 8 am to 10 pm the rate is trippled and for the rest it is practicle nothing . I guess they were not home till late unlike me who is home all day and doing my laundry and using most of the electric on these hours . after complaining for hours they decided they will give me a discount on next bills so it balances the meter to what a regular meter would be... they refuse to give me anything back from june to november ... 5 months worth of ridiculous charges . ... and no one to complain to because its all mafia related LOL

yes there is someone to complain to - the Public Service Commission - then you go to HEAP and you apply for help in paying the bill - when they hear the story they may step in - then you contact your congressman and your state senator - ank you contact the Attorney General's office - write one letter - make copies and ssend them all off at once - and in the letter you accuse the electric company of FRAUD and that they are working in BAD FAITH - and you contact any call for action on your tv stations - and you send a copy of the letter to the editor of your newspaper

you'll see how fast they will do something for you - trust me - I won't lead you wrong - I've had my fair share - follow my lead...........

then you contact the lawyer that took care of the closing and the realtors involved and make them contact the previous owners and go after their butts for not disclosing that to you - another case of fraud -

you WILL get action

please don't leave any of them out - including the lawyers, previous owners, realtors - pull them all in on it - because if you don't they will drag this out and you will be treated like a ping pong ball - state it all - even the lawyer acted in bad faith - he was supposed to check everything out before you signed at the closing - and the previous owners did not disclose that to you - fraud!

you can end this whole nightmare - easily if you listen to me -

one more thing - if the power company says they will give you a new meter and you have to pay for it - NO! you don't pay a thing - you pay for nothing! THEY OWE YOU MONEY - not CREDIT on your account - YOUR MONEY YOU WANT BACK AND WITH INTEREST - don't settle for a penny less - and if you had to pay late charges - you want that money and interest back!

send out your story - remember to "CC" (carbon copy) at the bottom - and list every name you are sending it to:

ex:

Yours truly,

mamma nee

CC:
name of Power company billing department
name of Power company customer service
name of Power company CEO (yes - call the company and get his name)
Attorney general's office
Public service commission
Local newspaper #1
Local newspaper #2
Television station #1
Television station #2
Television station #3
Fox News (oh yeah!)
CNN
congressman
senator
realtor - yours
realty office - yours - yes the office and a separate one to the realtor
realtor - theirs
realty office - theirs
any home inspection company you may have hired - if you did
laywer - yours
laywer - theirs
county executive
mayor of your town/village/city
consumer advocate group #1
consumer advocate group #2, #3, etc.
NYS department of banking (see below)
HUD (housing and urban development)
and anyone else you can think of!

DON'T LEAVE ANYONE OUT!

when they see the list of CC - it will **** off everyone of them - and don't let any of them try to threaten you - show them you mean business and that you want this settled in your favor

remember to spell out in the letter - you purchased the property at (address) for (amount) from (previous owners name) and closed on (date) and name both attorneys that were present and name both realtors (the realty company and the individual realtors names) and don't be afraid to use the terms - "acting in bad faith" "fraud" and dont' be afraid to accuse the previous owners, their realtor and their attorney of hiding something from you and your realtor and lawyer - and then stick in a question referencing "now you are wondering if your lawyer and realtor knew about this and did not disclose it"

mention mental stress, anguish, how it has upset your life, how you were treated unfairly by the power company, and that you feel you are being discriminated against because you are a woman (works everytime for attention) and if you are over 55 - they are taking advantage of seniors (and you can contact senior groups - discrimination against the elderly - treating you like you don't know anything, etc.)

let me at them - I'll have it over before the new year!

and immediately take the bill and go to HEAP - tell them you cannot pay these bills anymore - take the previous bills - HEAP won't pay them - but you will have proof that you went to them for help and they can even advise you

it's worth the paper, paying for the copies, the envelopes, and the postage

oh and by the way - contact the New York State Department of banking ifyou have a mortgage that you are paying - they don't like things like this happening - the bank is collecting money and interest from you and you were victimized!

you can really stir up a hornet's nest!

The NYS Department of Banking - they are really nice to deal with - trust me!

I really should shut up - but I can't

when I sold my home I had the last 12 months of paid bills - gas, electric, water - not to mention all my tax receipts to show the new owners BEFORE I even accepted their offer!

I can't believe what has happened to you!

I would not settle for an ADJUSTMENT - I would want a whole new meter - no one would tell me that they will adjust down a bill to make it more normal - I PAY FOR WHAT I USE - PERIOD!

and they would go back 5 months!

Calling your utility company is a great start. You may be surprised to find out that you may be charged for other peoples useage like neighbors, former owners, contractors, builders, and the like. It does happen. You may have also used more electricity while moving in. Another thing you may need to do is to have your meter checked to be sure it's working properly. In addition, in some larger cities, the utility company makes an estimate of useage periodically instead of having it read every month. Good luck!

Thanks to mama.... When I called and called and called and called repeatedly telling them that I refuse to pay this kind of bill and that I would call the TV stations and write to congress and splatter their name on all my blogs they finally told me that My next Electric bill is going to be 00000000 dollars and the following bill is also 00000!!!! :) ANNNND they are no longer going to be charging me for 2 meters ! And to think I was going to just cough it up and keep paying crazy prices .

I guess I can now take off my hoody and crank up the heat some because 63 degrees in the house just ain`t cutting it for the kids .

P.S. You know those expensive bulbs they sell to save energy ??? wellll they are worth every penny ! I can`t afford to buy all new ones in one shot but little by little I want all the lights in the house changed ., You be surprised at how much you can save.

now that you've got them - call back and tell them that you have been grossly overcharged since you move in and giving you 2 months free is not much and that since you have 2 meters on your home - you want only one and they better come out and change that - and if they say anything - tell them - I am not threatening you in any way - I am forewarning you of what I am going to do -
and remind them that the stress and aggrevation is effecting your health and are they going to pay the medical bills

If I can remember my Business Law from 100 years ago there is a thing called "Implied Warrent" meaning unless otherwise stated, such as the term "as is" placed in the sales contract, certain things are implied. I know a roof is implied, in that if they do not state that it leaks up front it is an implied warrenty. I will bet that a preexisting agreement with the Utility Co. and the previous owner should fall under that clause too.
