I have to ask the question. As far as Popcorn is concerned, do you pop your own or get the stuff for the microwave?

I literally suck at microwaving popcorn. I am guaranteed to burn it and there is one thing a person should not eat is burnt popcorn. All you have to do is burn a few kernels and it ruins the whole batch.
I know, there are settings on microwaves for popcorn, put the bag on a plate, check the power levels, do this, do that. I have tried all those things through the years and I am just hexed as a failure to make popcorn in the microwave. I am not all sure about what exactly goes into that bag of popcorn anyway. I do know that it isn't very healthy and is loaded with things I can't pronounce. It's scary stuff.

I think it all comes down to the fact that I just prefer making popcorn the old fashion way. I think that popcorn cooked on the stove taste a 100 percent better than the microwaveable types. I love fresh popped corn with salt and melted butter. I have made it that way all my life and prefer it that way.

I laugh at myself regarding the microwaveable popcorn. My youngest daughter from the age of 6 could put a bag of popcorn into the microwave and have it come out right. Not me, lol.

I prefer Microwave Popcorn! And I must be a freak of nature but I have always prefered my popcorn to have some scorched (slightly burned) kernels, no matter which way it is prepared! And I love popcorn best from the microwave because it seems to remove the moisture from the the popped corn better! I find the old-fashioned stove top popped corn to be more moist and less crisp, sort of chewier. Just my preferences;) BUT I LOVE POPCORN FROM THE MOVIE THEATRE BEST:p

Cathy, I remember my last episode with movie popcorn. They don't make it fresh here anymore.
For days after wards it was as if I had consumed a bucket of broken glass. I was in such pain, lol.

I would make my popcorn the old fashion way except that my hubby hates popcorn and even the smell of it makes him nauseous. So the only time I can get pop corn is at work. That means microwave. I have been buying the low fat 130 calorie bags from Trader Joe's. The ingredients list is much less scary.

The only popcorn you will find in my house is the good ol' fashioned popcorn you have to pop on the stove. I've got an air-popper and what I call the "flying saucer" (when done popping you invert and the top is a bowl) and of course - that big ol' pan for poppin'!

Real butter on top - no margarine.

Most of the theaters here don't make their popcorn - it comes in those big black plastic garbage bags and they just dump it in the popcorn machine and pour butter over it when you want. YUCK!
