2-Hour Turkey Recipe

Have you heard about this recipe that Safeway came out with? 2-hours and your turkey is done! I couldn't believe it myself. That would free up like half a day! I was going to present it to my mom to try this year since we help her every year make the turkey.

Haha! Seems like it would, huh. Imagine a future of microwavable turkeys...YUCK! LOL! Actually it involves baking the turkey at a very high heat.

You can find the recipe at turkey.safeway.com.

I love that they have helpful "How-To" videos to follow the recipe. Looks simple, right?

I went and looked at this recipe Spice and it looks interesting to me. I might have questioned the high heat-short roasting time before, but I recently got a recipe for pork chops at 400 degrees and they are fabulous. I think I will try this 2 hour recipe - maybe not for Thanksgiving Day - but some time soon. I'll let ya'll know how it comes out. Thanks for posting this and be sure and tell us how your came out, Spice!

tcinsa... Good luck to you with it as well, when you finally do decide to give it a try. I will definitely make sure I share my experience.

CCC- I take you have never cooked you stuffing outside the turkey in a casserole dish? We cook ours in a casserole dish and it tastes very good, not dry at all. But...you won't really know until you try it yourself, right? :p

Thanksgiving is almost here! I hope you all will be enjoying 4 days off with family and friends for good eating too.

Yes 4 days off and feasting to boot!!!

Never have tried doing stuffing in a pan, but there is a 1st time 4 Everything! I like the idea of baking that bird in high heat and getting it done and out of my oven to make room for all the other goodies we will be baking! Thanks SIG!

Cathy, I've only stuffed my bird once. It was the first time I ever made Thanksgiving dinner and I roasted the stuffed bird, only to find afterward that I had left the bag of "things" inside the bird. It was a paper bag but still, it was kinda gross. Ever since then, I have baked my stuffing in a big pan and stuffed my bird with apples, which we don't eat. Actually, I don't even know why I do this! Someone told me to do it years ago and here I am still doing it with no earthly idea why.

You know I just bet the apples provide moisture and subtle flavor as the turkey bakes! I have stuffed celery, onion and such in the cavity of chicken when I baked it so I think that apples would be good! Ya' know you sound like you try very hard to cook good meals!
I hope you & yours have a very Happy & Hearty Thanksgiving!
Cathy

Ha! What a horrible and funny 1st time experience...LOL! That will teach you a lesson or two, no? :p My 1st time experience this year should be fun since it will be with my sister working on 1 turkey, and we'll be able to coach one another. LOL! It's only 2 hours to cook anyway, so I'm sure an hour a piece between two people will work out nicely. :)

Thanksgiving was great! The 2-hour turkey worked out nicely. It was nice to rely on something to cook so fast while we spent more time on other dishes that needed it. Believe it or not, we went thru 2 turkeys and 2 hams with very little left overs! We actually had to hide some turkey so we could have left overs for ourselves!

Hope everyone's T-day was great as well. :)
