4th of July Weekend

Most of us grew up knowing Red Skelton. For the younger members, this guy was a comic genius without being crude or offensive. This was his take on the pledge of allegiance

As screwed up as our country is, We are all still Americans and proud of our country.

Happy 4th of July people

The 4th was the same here. No sleep the entire weekend because of drunken neighbors putting off illegal fireworks all weekend long. I gave up at 12:35am last night from trying to sleep due to the noise. I went out on the balcony and someone was setting off fireworks like it was a state fair or something and the air was full of smoke. Tonight the same thing is going on because all of the fireworks dealers around town had them on sale.

ditto here! I opened my side door and stepped out and part of a firework went straight down my arm - scared the crap out of me - the azzes here get so drunk they don' know what they are doing - and to out-do the next person, they pile fireworks in the street and pour gasoline over them and light it - well - you an guess the rest......

ALL fireworks are banned in my area, but it doesn't stop the idiots. Multiple raids were made of homes for illegal fireworks and finding thousands of pounds of the stuff. One house was modified as a warehouse to store massive amounts of fireworks....and this could be your neighbor. "Their" neighbors were shocked and had to be evacuated while the fireworks were removed.

In a related story, a person tripped while carrying a box of illegal fireworks and it exploded when it hit the ground. That's how sensitive some of this stuff is.

Fireworks are illegal here too - but you wouldn't think it. On my street alone (not including the drunks behind us) I think we have more fireworks than all the parks in NY state put together.

When I was young, we used to enjoy he parades, then BBQ's at the park and then watch the fireworks. But that wasn't good enough for the loonies - they take all the fun out of the holiday - you have to stay home and protect your property - ad they start with this crap the middle of June and it goes until the end of July - they cannot give it up.

Illegal here to but you can buy them on every street corner in this town around the 4th. Rednecks just love the 4th.

Being from north Louisiana I am probably a Gin-You-Wine redneck. I do love the 4th so I can grill everything in sight. However, I will add, I have no use for fireworks and by 10:30 this little redneck is tucked in his little bed. You are probably right though Janie. Most fireworks are probably bought by rednecks. BTW wasn't it Paul Harvey who once said; 60% of all collared greens are eaten by rednecks . . . the remainder is thrown out.
