Christmas Shopping

I hate to go to the store this time of the year because they are swamped with Christmas shoppers shoving and pushing.
I am clausterphobic plus trying to lead a blindman around in that sort of mess is tough. I get really cranky if someone pushes him. So I try and avoid it all together. Jon wanted to go to Big Lots yesterday and I hesitated because of it being black friday weekend.
It was a beautiful day yesterday sunny and almost 60 degrees so we went. I was really shocked to see there were not hardly any people out shopping. We went to several stores and there wasnt 1/4 of the normal amount of people out this time of the year. The lady who checked me out at Big Lots said business was really down from last year. Even at Krogers you could get right through checkout and this was at 5:30 in the evening. I like it at Big Lots especially this time of the year they get in more specialty food items. I found balsamic vinegar, lady fingers, extra virgin olive oil, whole black peppercorns, fire roasted tomatoes, garlic and rosemary bread sticks all for good prices. I picked up a 2 pack pyrex fluted deep dish pie pans for $8. The best part was it was a beautiful day, no crowds and my piece of junk car got me there and back lol.

I hate crowds and it wouldn't be half bad if they didn't push and shove. Makes ya wonder where there holiday spirit is!

Early in the morning or very late at night like 1am or better is when I prefer to shop at Walmart. I like to do Big Lots and Krogers once a month and since they are a few couties over I have to do them during regular hours but Walmart is way better very eary or late.

Krogers had a bunch of seafood marked down that was so far gone the whole store stank. On the side of the store where they were it smelled so foul it almost made you gag. Im suprised they havent poisoned someone selling that stuff.

I'm a BigLots! shopper also. Love the many different condiments and foods that show up on their shelves that I don't see elsewhere. And every once in a while they will blow my mind with something new -- like stainless steel stock pots with glass covers, all sizes, that sold elsewhere for $60-$90, and they had for less than $30.

I haven`t even started yet .. first i`ll do what I can online then if I am desperate I will hit the stores.
