Please share what puts you in the

"Christmas Spirit" mood?

For me it has always been the music and most especially "Silent Night" I love the Christmas Carrolls!!!

I also start getting in the mood for Christmas when we put up our tree, we do not have a very big tree, it's a tiny one, but very fun to set up and easy to take down!
 
The smell of the holidays gets me in the Christmas mood.
Baking cookies, roasting turkey and ham, bread and cakes with nutmeg and cinnamon.

Christmas mood

This year I was put in the Christmas mood after walking around downtown. All the stores were decorated for Christmas. As soon as I got home I started putting up my Christmas decorations. I also dug out my Christmas music audio cassettes.
 
All of the above. I love to see the lights that everyone has up. That really makes it feel like Christmas. I first get the Christmas signal when my sister and I go Christmas shopping after Thanksgiving. After that my husband and I put up the tree. He is not thrilled about Christmas so I have made tree trimming into an activity he enjoys by making a nice meal then I make up a batch of "tree trimming cocktails" and put on Christmas music. Then he enjoys it more. I also have made a point of getting ornament which resonate with him like blown glass ornaments and little nutcrackers. I want him to feel involved.
 
The music and burning Christmas candles. Their fragrance is wonderful! And, of course, remembering "the reason for the season":)

That is so sweet the way you get your hubby "in the mood" for the holidays by including him, that is such a loving gift for you to give him:) Plus those "tree trimming cocktails" are probably pretty good too!!!
 
In years past I was the volunteer 'Santa' that helped a couple local nonprofit organizations in giving out gifts to needy children and also working with two local police departments in visiting the elementary schools. THAT always got me in the spirit.

On one event I'm put in a sleigh-type chair/throne on a flatbed truck which is driven up and down the streets in a really low-income hispanic part of town and my 'elves' tossed out donated treats. All I had to do was sit there and give out "ho ho ho's" using a PA system to draw the crowds. Well, this one year we stopped for some reason and for some reason stood up. Parents were suddenly running towards the truck with their cameras and everyone was laughing and yelling -- seems my Santa trousers stayed down when I stood up and I had not noticed. I'm surprised it did not make the front page of the local paper.... "Santa Loses His Pants!"

I especially liked the functions when I could get the young ladies to sit on my lap while pictures were taken. Aaaah, what I had to suffer through.

I'll bet you "Santa's" could write a book!

But that sounds like such a neat way to volunteer your time, and I could def. see how that would Put you in the Holiday Spirit!

As a chatty guy, I know it ain't like me to not have sumthin' to rattle-on about, but Golly- I can't improve on any of the great ideas for getting us into the spirit offered here. Even CanMan's perveted Santa idea is a good one! Hee-Hee!
 
For me it is the old timey cartoon Christmas shows, lighting the fireplace and turning on the Christmas Tree lights, and frosted sugar cookies dipped in coffee or hot cocoa.

Just can't wait for Santa to come this year! I've been a very good girl! It could be big diamonds in my stocking...

All the Christmas music and smells...lights...been slow about getting in the spirit this year...got my tree up though but havn't done any shopping and not going to do any of that much anyway.I did help with getting food baskets together for Helping Hands in our area.And going to help our Ladies group at church with meals for the shut in on Christmas always a blessing to me to try to help others especially the ones alone and in need.

I found this site hunting down some recipes.

My goal this Christmas is to make a large decadently rich Black Forest Cake.

We are having a big Beef Tenderloin and I am doing it this way:



Marinated Beef Tenderloin

1 cup soy sauce; 3/4 cup beef broth; 1/2 cup olive oil; 2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar or cider vinegar; 4 to 5 garlic cloves( mixed)

1 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper; 1 teaspoon dried thyme; 1/2 teaspoon salt; 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce; 1 bay leaf; 1 whole beef tenderloin (3-1/2 to to 4 pounds)


In a bowl, combine the first nine ingredients; mix well. Cover and refrigerate 1 cup for basting. Pour remaining marinade into a large plastic bag; add bay leaf and

tenderloin. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate overnight.

Drain and discard marinade and bay leaf. Place tenderloin on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Bake, uncovered, at 425 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes or until meat reaches desired

doneness (for rare, a meat thermometer should read 140 degrees, medium, 160 degrees; well-done, 170 degrees), basting often with reserved marinade. Let stand for 15

minutes before slicing. Yield: 6-8 servings.


This is a recipe that my friend sent to me. We had it at her house in October and it was the best beef we've ever had. It is delicious.

I think a Black Forest Cake will be great for flavor and presentation.
