Teenagers that need a helping hand!

Hi Folks a dear friend of mine sent me the following and I thought I would pass it along to share with each of you as well:

If we can believe the news media, the only time teenagers are noteworthy is when they do something wrong. But we all know better, don’t we?

Case in point: The Delcastle Cook’s & Bakers---a group of high school students in the culinary art’s program---each year conduct a gingerbread construction tour of area schools. Among other things, they teach younger kids how to build gingerbread houses, decorate cookies, and so forth.

To my mind, that’s a great community service project, one the kids have been doing for five years now.

Used to be a federal program that helped fund this project. But, like so much Washington money, it’s dried up. Maybe if they used the word “bailout” instead of “help” things would be different.

Anyway, I think those of us concerned with culinary matters should help spread the word about this creative way kids are helping their community. And maybe kick in a few bucks as well.

You can find all the details here: ChefTalk - Cooking Forums, Cook Book Review, Cooking Articles and Recipes by the chefs

By the way, the young lady who wrote this cover story is one of the culinary students who takes part in the program. She’s very talented, and has even written cookbook reviews for me.

I’d appreciate any support you can provide.
