What's your job?

I worked in professional kitchens from age 14 to 39- in rural Illinois, then Chicago, then New Orleans, then Seattle, then Alaska. After 25 years I recently left cheffing for a much kinder-gentler job working as a security-system monitor in the basement of the country's largest insurance company. After years of working demanding 80++ hour weeks, I love now working only 5 shifts per week- 40 hours. I feel retired! :) Now I finally for the first time ever have time for family and friends- and even basic stuff like having a pet and houseplants! All things my demanding schedule never allowed me before.

What do you do for a living?

I'm a supervisor at a customer service training company. In the last 6 months they cut two other supervisors so now I'm the only one of my kind in the department. I have 46 people who report to me and this is review month. I'm about at the end of my tether having to write and administer 46 reviews in one month. I only have about half of them finished and with Thanksgiving the month is more than halfway over. :(

I'm an unemployed senior and kind of a nerd of all trades..... electronics, nuclear weapons, microcomputers, photography, editorial writing, law, webmaster, and many others. Many years spent in a family business with my parents working in the legal profession and then in building desperately needed housing for low-income elderly. Unfortunately no professions with a retirement plan, so the present didn't end up as rosy as was thought.

Nowadays it is canning food, learning how to unwind the brain (I'm not doing too well on that), trying to understand the pineal gland, and researching issues related to Mayans and Semarians.

Retired Photographer. Had a studio that shot the usual wedding, portraits, commercial, aerial, Seniors and event work. I liked the seniors the best but the event stuff paid the bills.

My user name says it, Merchant Marine. Do some cooking on the beach, but really don't enjoy it.

Have the upmost respect for those who work with wook, true artists!

Nan

As I have said elsewhere. I was a wedding photographer/videographer for about 35 years. I was good at my job. But gave it up, when it became too much of an uphill struggle, just trying to please some people.
On Christmas morning 2006. We were preparing to spend Christmas day with my daughter, when I had a stroke. Fortunately, it was just a TIA (a mini stroke)
Now, to while away the loneliness and boredom. I took on a job as a freelance courier driver. Travelling all over the UK, in my own little van. Which, I should add. I enjoy immensely. :)

I had to retire in 97 ' because of health reasons but before that I had several jobs...Bank Teller..executive secretary and worked for a clothing maufacturer. Now I am just a domestic CEO of my clan.
