My Dad gets a chuckle out of me- says whenever I'm in the kitdhen I'm always either singing or whistling... Truth is- I don't know which I like better food- or music!

What's your fav food song? I dig Bobbi Gentry's classic folk tune "Ode to Billi Jo" where the sumptuous southern table is described as containing black-eyed peas, biscuits and apple pie.

I also like "Church" by Lyle Lovett where he wails about the misery of having a new pastor in church who long-windedly preaches way past quitting-time one hot Sunday... and the congregation's starving!

What are some others you all enjoy hearing and swaying to in the kitchen?

Also- what fun dinner music do you play? I last played "Ella For Lovers", "kd lang and Tony Bennet's Duets" and "Patsy Cline's Twelve Greatest Hits" at gatherings...

Have you ever watched the TV show "Super Natural", janie? My niece likes it. It's about two 20-something brothers who drive around the country dealing with super natural phenomenon like house hauntings, urban myths and such. These boys drive a vintage car and are always playing popular rock music from their parents' era- the 70's and 80's- a lot of "hair band" music! Sunday we watched an episode and I heard classics by Night Ranger, Def Lepard and The Scorpions! Talk about a blast-form-the-past!

Yeah I love that show.
I got to see Night Ranger in concert once. I had killer front seats and they sounded so great. I loved when they did Sister Christian. We have seen Def Leppard 3 times. I saw the Scorpions once and they sounded awesome. I have seen Cinderella, Quiet Riot, Motley Crew, Kansas, Styx, Dio & Slaughter. We have seen a few others I cant remember right off the top of my head. We got to meet Slaughter. They were so nice and they really went out of their way to be kind to Jon. Shaking hands with him and asking how he liked the show. I was the only one there who asked before taking their pics so they posed for me and autographed my tshirt and an 8x10. I still have the pic in its frame and my tshirt is in the closet :)

You know your getting old when you go to Kmart/WalMart and they are playing your kinda music lol.

Bobby Gentri was cool Kev! I also liked "These Boots are made for Walkin'" I believe that was Nancy Sinatra, and "Harper Valley PTA" I love that era.

Don't know how I missed this thread, but I do not like background noise while I cook of any genre (mucis or otherwise) do not even like it when I drive. Love Music but when I am doing nothing else but listening and enjoying the sounds, lyrics, and beat or when I am dancing, I love to dance. Also love to sing, I am mostly oldies but goldies lover and have no fondness for much of the new stuff, and despise Rap it is old already, it's been around since my boys were young teens(they're grown now with children of their own), and rap has only gotten worse; pure FILTH!

I loved all the songs on like the sound track from the movie "Bronx Tale" love CCR, Eagles, all Motown, and just all that era music, also love me some old fashioned Country music the old artists are the best!!! And I adore Louie Prima "Just A giggalo" I like fun tunes and love tunes all stuff that uplifts, and does not bring me down. The occasional sad song, when I am in the mood to tolerate it only!
