I've lived at this address for almost 14 years. During this time, we've had the same postman other than when he was away on holidays or off on sick leave. Ever since the beginning of the new year when he retired, we've rarely had the same mailperson twice but the same problem occurs almost daily -- I receive other people's mail as I am sure they're receiving mine.

It's not uncommon to see people biking, driving, or on fot looking for house numbers to deliver mail that they rec'd. in error.

We've reported it numerous times with no results and I'm so angry after today's delivery of mail for other people that I just had to v-e-n-t! ACK!

Have any of you experienced this?

We have lived in our house for four years and are STILL getting alumni magazines for the guy who owned the house before the woman who sold the house to us. So, three owners ago.

OTOH, one time my grandparents sent me a postcard from Brazil with just "Mrs. Lastname" and my town's name and zip code and it was delivered no problem. I guess that was the GOOD Mailman's day working!

Oh, and one time as a single girl, I moved out of a house and somewhere else, and happened to go back to the old house and they'd continued delivering all my mail there despite the forwarding address I put in. I put in a forwarding address THREE TIMES before I finally went back to the old house and taped over the mailbox and wrote "FORWARDING ADDRESS IN EFFECT" on the tape. *then* I finally started getting my mail forwarded.

I ordered a laptop on ebay and the seller shipped the box Priority with a tracking number. The tracking number is a joke. After a week I checked the number and it stated that it was still at the post office he sent it from. Another week went buy and still no package still. I called and they said that they did not know where it was, even with the tracking number. Finally I got it the next week. It apparantly sat in the origional post office that whole time. Once it was sent from the "Lazy" post office I received it within 2DAYS. AMAZING!!! I was suppose to sign for it. The mail lady dropped it on my front porch and never rang the door bell. It was the only day this summer that it rained at my house. Thanksfully I got the laptop out of the box before the water soaked through to it. I am not a big fan of the USPS.

Poorgirl I'm glad you received your laptop, finally, and hope it arrived unscathed. I can relate to taking receipt of packages from my front doorstep, NOT the actual potal person. They have such a cavalier attitude. Someone could steal it, or as in your case, the elements could damage the package. They are well paid and I'm sure would not want their things treated in such a fashion. In my experience, complaining does no good whatsoever. ::sigh:: I agree, tracking numbers count for naught if they don't enter the info, where's the tracking feature? And you pay extra for this! ACK.

U.S. Snail Mail - for 37 years we've have problems - and just when you think it's safe - a newbie comes along and screws it all up again! Sad part - they cannot read - they start at the first house on one side of the street and place mail in every mailbox - regardless of if it goes to that house or not. Then they find that half to one third of the remaining houses has no mail - and they are too stupid to check it out and find out why - it's not thier fault! Yeah - right....
