The Weather

Here it has been horrible the past five days or so. Rain, sleet and snow with highs around 30 or less most days. We went a few counties over to Walmart on Monday to get my brothers groceries and get a few things for us. It was 28 degrees and sleeting that day. Right now it is sleeting outside.

I picked up a 14 pound turkey and a 22 pound whole ham to make for him and his family for Christmas. The ham was one of the ones labeled fully cooked so that will be easier when the time comes to fix their dinner. They had Butterballs on sale for .88 a pound so that is the brand of turkey I got them.
I have to wait and see what day my husbands Dad plans to do Christmas dinner at his house before I can plan on the date to make my brothers dinner. They will also be doing dinner at their Moms sometime close to that.
My husband's brother and his family can never give you a time they can do things at their Dads or Moms til the last minute so I will have to make my brother dinner in between the madness. I know my FIL wants to do dinner at his place on Christmas. Last year they did it on Christmas Eve.

They usually do their dinner at their Mom and Stepdads the day before their Dad which is hard on me because it throws me late in the day getting started cooking for the dinner at their Dads. You can never get out of their Moms place til 7 or 8 pm. I end up staying up pretty much all night working on the meal for their Dads the next day. My FIL asked me the other day if we minded what day they did it on and we told him we didnt care. What ever day works for everyone else is fine just let me know in advance. Last year after dinner I left Jon at the table talking to a friend and I wandered downstairs to the basement by myself turned on the tv and curled up in a chair and just about fell asleep. The rest of the small house was full of my brother in laws in laws two of which had bronchitis and strep throat at the time. I was trying to avoid those two lol.

Janie, I have a friend out in Cali who e-mailed me and told me to expect awful stormy weather here in the mid-west this week. Well, he sure was right! They were having high winds and messy rains out their way, and so far this week that weather system's moved our way and we're seeing flurries (with pomises or more significant snow Thursday) and temps are dropping into the teens at night. BBBRRR!!! I bought a couple new sweaters to wear around the holidays but I just might have to break them out to wear sooner than that!

Weather in North Louisiana has been fraught with the fluctuating freddies. After several days of freezing temps at night, even one short snow (didn't stick) yesterdays was in the seventies. Yes we can have snow in north Louisiana. Now it's supposed to drop to about 26 degrees tonight.

well I live in the snow belt and it's really hell - actually - hell is warmer and has less wind

I am beginning to hate the words "lake effect" because it never stops and the winds are horrid

I've lost my power 5 times in the past 3 hours and the storm has not even hit yet

the sky is black - looks like it is nighttime

the winds are howling

the power keeps going out

and once the snow comes (by this afternoon) - we are going to get buried - again

THINK SPRING NOW - let Santa arrive in a convertible for a change!

One has to become a snow-bird and fly south like say.....Miami, Florida or The Florida Keys to escape all that Mama!!!
Truthfully that is the only place Santa arrives by convertible:D I know this is a fact 'cause: I saw him once in a parade right in downtown Miami by the Orange Bowl riding on a big old Cadillac convertible!!!;)

In addition to burglary and fire alarms another thing we handle at my job is environmental/mechanical alarms and power-failures. As you might imagine, we've been working like one-armed paper-hangers here since Weds. AM. We've had 60++ office closings and hundreds of power failuers- YIKES! Not to mention the burgs caused by heavy ice busting doors and windows open, etc.

My sis's hubby has been working 16 hour days clearing trees from the high winds. It was a high here today of 24.
