Jon has a friend who is Thai. His Mom is a fantastic cook. He called today and told us to bring a couple plastic storage containers with us when we came out to their place this evening. Jon had a CD he was gonna drop off to him. His friend had made chicken soup and steamed rice. Have you ever heard of anyone making chicken soup with the chicken hearts and gizzards? It had whole cloves of garlic floating in it with parts of the chicken I normally save for my brother in laws dogs. It tasted strongly of fish sauce, cilantro and kaffir lime leaves.

I know since they are asian they are going to make chicken soup much different than I would but that soup was terrible. I made Thai chicken soup once with coconut milk and don't remember the recipe calling for gizzards and hearts. I took the soup outback and tossed it out. I kept the rice. I will use it to make fried rice in a few days. His Mom and Dad seemed to really like his recipe which is all that matters I guess lol.

Too bad, janie- and it seemed there was so much potential, too! What a shame...

I hope some cold starving dog got to enjoy it! It sounds perfectly awful for human consumption, though I know alot of people would probably like it. Just not me  I do not care for liver PERIOD!!!! It just makes my gag reflex act up and my tummy gets queasy and so I take no chances eating it.

I don't think that "organ meats" are actually that good for you either.

I have heard they are not! I have read up on it, and understood what they were talking about as I read it, but straight way forgot all that I read, and really only remembered that I felt HAPPY as could be to read they were not good to eat as once thought!!! That was really all I needed to remember!
