Crock Pot

I couldnt live without my crock pot! i love it! so easy to prepar dinner!

do u eat chicken?

We've had one since we got married almost 2 years ago and have never used it  DH hates casserole type dishes and we haven't really needed it for anything else.

But there is so much you can use it for - any meats, sides, desserts, breads - I use mine for quite a few things.

I would like to know if anyone can tell me what the difference is between a crock pot and a slow cooker. Some say that it's a slow cooker and some say it's a crock pot and yet others have both on the box. I just don't get it. I was just wondering if someone could answer this for me. Thank you. My sister and I both are trying to figure this out.

There is no difference. I think it's somewhat regional (or maybe just how you were raised) as to which it's called. But a slow cooker and crock pot are interchangable. :)

It's completely up to you. If you don't use it all that often, it may not be worth it to go get one. I use mine all the time. I actually have 2 of them. I have a big one & a small one. I use them quite frequently. I think they're good to have around. You can make soup in them & other things that you might want to slow cook.

my mom often tells me i need to use my crockpot more...I would love to find out if it is possible to start something at 6am when I leave for work and it me ready when I get home at 7pm without burning. Any suggestions?

just make sure what ever it is you're cooking has plenty of liquid and you just cook it on LOW all day. I think you should be fine to turn it on before you leave and have a hot dinner waiting when you get home.

I love my crock for soups and stews!

Thanks

Thanks...I was afraid it will burn...maybe I will try it out this weekend while I am at home to check on the timeframes....Those cakes sure sound good! Especially the pinapple upside down cake!

I got one that I've had since the late '70s.

Still works as good as the day that I first bought it! Hardly use it now, but it IS nice to have when you want to slow cook something.

Most of my slow cooking, I do on the stove in one of my cast iron Dutch Ovens with the fire real low.

I love crock pots too. Granted, one sometimes gets less than ideal results if something's WAY overcooked, but I love having a great hot meal in the summer-time without using the HOT ovens in a tiny, contained space on the counter-top... and I love the magic of throwing stuff in it- leaving the house for a few hours and returning to delicious aromas wafting throughout the house!

It's a totally lacking meal in some respects, but to me one of the finest kitchens aromas in the world is a dish my Mom often made: throw a beef roast in the slow cooker. Add an envelope of Lipton French Onion Soup Mix, a can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup and a small swaller of burgndy or merlot (2-3 Tablespoons). MMM, MMMM, MMMM!

Crockpot user

I love my RIVAL crockpot and use it a lot. I mainly make stews and soups in it. I have made desserts too.

My wife has one and has used it only once. However, I use it quite a bit. Her problem with a crockpot is she doesn't know what she will want 8 to 10 hours from now. As far as myself, I love them.

Technically we should call them "Slow Cookers". CrockPot is a trade name of the Rival brand so all others should be listed as slow cookers.
