Family Reunion Potlucks

I've been informed that I'm expected to attend a coming family reunion (UGH!) We always rent a hall and have a huge potluck. Of course potlucks are usually the sources of some of the very best- and also the very worst foods, ever!

What do you all take to family reunions and potlucks?

I will likely make it eazy on myself and simply take a layer-cake... or maybe even simpler grab 'n go cupcakes. Perhaps something smothered in colorful berries.

And don't forget - (and it can be made ahead) a big pot of meatballs in sauce and a bag of fresh hoagie rolls for subs! If you want - cook some pasta with it. You can make tons of meatballs and freeze them a week before. Warm them up in a pot of sauce. Save some for me.

I'm a baked Ziti or Lasagna bringerer.

Damn mama- between you and IC I may dump the cake idea all together! My clan wouldn't know what to think if I showed up w/ meatballs or ziti- they'd proll'y all tuck their shirts in, run a comb thru their hair, and start speaking in complete sentences!

I usually take a big pasta salad or baked italian dish. Pies are always good to take.

I'd make a huge cookie sheet full of homemade biscuits and a jar of homemade jelly and soft butter, deviled eggs platter, and a fruit salad served in a watermelon carved out like into the serving bowl!!!!!
