lol thats funny!
Thanksgiving is not a time for being "healthy", even if you are already eating unhealthy. It's a time to be thankful for the bounty of food we have available. I repent the day after.
I had one family that was kind of that way....vegetarian....so the meal was done accordingly. The food was good, but there is a limit on Tofu Turkey Casserole or similar substitute. I much prefer to carve a turkey and even participate in its making so I know what I am eating and can savor the fat and calories going into my body.

I am with you CanMan, Just bring it in on Calories & ALL!!!! I love Thanksgiving, even if all my favorites are not being served! I will figure out a way to get what I like!
lol I have always had a sore spot when it comes to anyone getting picked on. I dont care what the reason is I just cannot stand to see anyone bullied.
to begin with - what is so fattening about a roast turkey?? and most meals include tons of veggies which are good for you -
Can Man is right - that is one day you can indulge - eat yourself into a turkey coma and enjoy yourself. It's once a year.
Ditto with Christmas, Easter and other holidays. Those are days you are supposed to enjoy with family and friends. Even "fat" people can enjoy themselves.
You don't need to be a glutton - but a full belly on those days is well deserved.
Think about it - will you all be together again next year? Things happen - the tables size begins to shrink as years go by - so is it worth being like that?
Our table has really shrunk - but at least they always had the best I could serve them and they were very happy - it's more important than rolling tasteless crap in your mouth to ingest.
