Are they worth buying? Or do you prefer making your own noodles by hand?

Hard to say - I bought one, never used it, and finally ended up selling it on eBay.

I am so used to making it by hand! I had one of those "crank-type" and it was a waste of time and cleaning it was impossible - so I tossed it. My mom tossed hers and so did gram, 2 aunts and 3 great aunts. So I guess those are no good.

I just bought one that makes different types of noodles with the cutting disks, etc. and I haven't used it yet. Too used to doing it by hand! But when I do use it I will tell you what it is like.

Thank you for the responses. Let me know if and when you use yours! ;)

yesterday on Everday Italian I saw a pasta maker attachment for the kitchenaid mixer. I wonder if that would be any good. If I could get something to make it as easy as it looked, I'd be more likely to make my own.

If you have the time, pasta maker is worth it but i think its wayy cheaper just to buy premade
