When your using skewers do you prefer to use wooden ones or the metal ones? I use wooden ones, but I have to soak them in water so they don’t burn on the grill. I am thinking about investing in a nice metal pair and would like some opinions.

I had metal one and didn't care for them I went back to the wooden disposable ones

I like the bamboo ones. The soaking isn't that big a deal if you start soaking the skewers before you do anything else.

bamboo ones. I agree with spiceplace, the soaking isn't too much trouble. And often, you really don't need to soak them all that far in advance. Sometimes i've done fine just putting them in to soak before I start taking ingredients out (prepwork)...maybe 10-15 minutes.

I like the wooden or bamboo ones, as long as I remember to start them soaking a sufficient amount of time before I need to grill. Unfortunately, I often don't remember. :o

One more vote for them bamboo skewers. You can touch them without burning yourself as they generally stay cool unless you're not cooking them right. If they cook through, well, you need to try again as you overcooked something.

I also like the wooden or bamboo skewers. Have never used the metal ones.

metal ones arent as safe as the wooden ones and that they might rust.

I have the metal ones but I don't use it anymore.

I use bamboo skewers because my family is so lazy. They just don't want to clean the metal skewers.

I have never used skewers before but now I will buy bamboo ones only.
I agree cleaning metal ones could be really irritating.
