Well, like it says, the building codes are VERY strict over here in Arlington/DC. We looked into getting a gas grill, but the fire marshall wasn't having it at all. Literally stood on the roof for an hour trying to convince him. We did get by with a plug-in foreman-style grille, but it won't exactly compare to some nice char-grilled burgers! Grilling season is the best time of year! :D :)

Boy, things must have changed a lot since I lived in Arlington.

'Course, that was near on to 45 years ago, and a lot more than building codes have changed, I reckon.

Questions: Why did the fire marshall get involved in the first place? And did he offer any explanation for the rule?

Propane is apparently more of a fire hazard in a high rise than a single family home. More liability for the co-op

I'm from the gubmint, I'm here to help you.

Give me a break!

Seems to me any liability questions would be a decision for the board to make, not some outsider on a power trip.

Lord, I hate those inspectors.

You would think, I figure that's how most co-ops work, but I'm grateful. I think we're the only ones with even that grill allowed on the roof
