Where can I find...

I am looking for a place on line or catalog to find unusual ingredients. I live in a small town and many things are not available,

I can't help you with that, but I can sympathise with you. I know what it is like to be surrounded with shops that say maple syrup is a seasonal item.

my favorite for spices, herbs, extracts, and soup bases is PENZEYS Spices Home Page
I will pull up other sites and post later.

Actually is Prescott that small? a search shows 40,000 residents and a pretty interesting demographic. I would think there would be Asian and Hispanic markets for sure and possibly others?

more later,
Nan

here is a great source for grains, etc. You should also be able to find many of their items in the health food department of bigger supermarkets--
Grains, Beans, Seeds - Bob's Red Mill (Page 2)

I have not used this on, but it is highly recommend on another forum--
Gourmet and Specialty Food Items

Here is another--a coworker of mine often leaves their products behind in the galley and I find them nice-- Gourmet spices, herbs, essential oils, potpourri, green tea - bulk and wholesale

I used Zingerman's | Food by Mail | Gifts & Sundries to purchase fennel pollen because that was the only souce I could find. They have great stuff, but a bit spendy.

You can also do searches for specific items?

enjoy,
Nan

Thank you

THANKS SO MUCH !!!
Prescott, AZ has grown considerably since I moved here in '93, but , the
choice of stores is much the same as it was....MANY restaurants have gone
"belly up". It is a tourist town....lots in Western History...I belong to groups that dress in costume most of the time...Our opera house is 104 yrs old.
We have only one "kitchen" shop and it isn't very large. It is really a STEAK AND POTATOES town.....
Thanks so much for the links.....
