You are right because I love sushi, I eat seaweed in all sorts of things. I like anchovies & caviar in things but I wouldn't eat a big pile of them. It's just too salty. The thing about what I dislike is that I don't hate all beans or all eggplant. I just hate mushy beans or mushy eggplant. It's a texture thing. For instance I love sweet potatoes but I once made a recipe for sweet potato puree that was so smooth I actually threw up. It was the worst thing I ever had in my mouth. I hate that texture of baby food. The weird thing is if you added some flour and fried it into fritters or added stock and made it into soup I would have licked the platter clean.

THAT IS FUNNY......
I WONDER IF YOU HAD A TRAUMATIC CHOKING EXPERIENCE WHEN YOU WERE JUST A BABY THAT LEFT YOU SCARRED FOR LIFE AND HATE ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH BABY FOOD:confused: JUST AN UNEDUCATED GUESS:D

I USED TO HATE OKRA (BOILED) AND EGGPLANT (SAUTEED) AND ANYTHING "SLIMY-LIKE" AS A KID, I OVER CAME THOSE AS I GOT OLDER AND GREW THEM IN OUR GARDEN, IT SEEMS THE ACTUALL PROCESS OF GROWING THEM AND THEN PICKING AND PREPARING THEM IN MEALS CHANGED ME. I STARTED OUT EATING OKRA BOILED IN A STEWED TOMATO/CORN/OKRA COMBO. THEN FOR SOME WIERD UNEXPLAINED REASON I FELL IN LOVE WITH EGGPLANT! MY MOM WAS NOT SUCH A GREAT COOK AND SEASONING IN HER FOOD LEFT IT LESS THAN DESIREABLE, I THINK MY OWN COOKING AND SEASONING TECHNIQUES ENABLED ME TO EAT THINGS THAT PREVIOUSLY MADE ME GAG!

You are definitely right there. There are so many foods I hated as a kid that I learned I really like when I make them myself. I'm a strange one in that I actually remember things that happened when I was 2 or 3. Most people don't remember when they were that young. I remember my mother giving me baby food and I hated it. I didn't want to eat that nasty stuff. I wanted to eat the fresh veggies from my grandmother's garden. I also was a butter bandit. If you left the refrigerator unguarded for more than a minute I would have gobbled up every stick of butter in there. :D

I love eggplant fritters, eggplant parm, moussaka, roasted eggplant, etc but any dish that says roast the eggplant and scoop out the pulp..... no thanks.

The thought of a baby gnawing on sticks of butter is hilarious!

I have a "texture" thing too depending on what I'm eating. I can't stand food that is too crispy, especially if it's crispy AND cold like salad with croutons. I like lettuce, I like croutons, but get them in a bite together and I'm not a happy camper.
