I have a glass top, and I will never use anything else. Mine is very easy to clean, yes it takes that "special" cleaner once a week to keep it looking new. and as for burnt or boil overs, I use the scraper knife and it comes right off, I've even used the supposedly dreaded no no of a scouring pad, and works fine, no damage done. I did learn what the inside/underside of that top looks like though, when a pot fell from a top shelf onto it, it's styropfoam looking stuff. strange, you'd think that would melt?
Anyhoo, I wouldn't settle for anything less than a glass top for my kitchen, never again. Best thing ever invented. Very easy to clean, cook on, and looks wonderful. I love the broiler feature too. great for garlic toast, and getting that pizza chz melted perfectly.

Interesting. I have thought about these alot too. I always see them in sears and other stores. We have an electric stove but not the flat top kind. I do like gas stoves too though.

I have been contemplating getting a flt top stove. I have burners. I have to have electric, my home does not have gas. I will have to check out the glass top. Thanks.

Yes i agree with those that like the gas stoves. Heat is easier to regulate and with the oven, the heat seems to cover the entire thing rather than just the bottom.

Also -- I would NOT recommend one of those glass tops if you have kids. Those things get SO hot (obviously) and you dont realize just how long they stay hot. One little misplaced finger and you're in a world of hurt. And if your child touches it, you'll become superwoman and sling the sucker out the door!
