I am new to this forum but I am interested in canning and any type of cooking tips. Presently I am canning pickles and I am wondering why my cucumbers shrink when I waterbathed them.:confused:

are your cukes old? old cukes will do that - "hollow" cukes do that

Thank you for your replay. I am new at all of this (canning and chatting )but, no, i just picked them the morning before putting them up. Now the spears did just fine, it was only the whole cuks that swiveled up and floated to the top of the jar.
They taste okay right now but I wonder if they will get soft later.
