It sounds to me like Jafo and Janie simply either have different knowledge or different perceptions. Any attempt to sort it into a black & white absolute would be discounting the many possible gray areas- and would fail to pin-point the likely true reason for them not experiencing a clear and total meeting of the minds. Much like two long-time cooks with tons of experience between them strongly disagreeing about terminology for say- a stalk of celery.
