Spinach is his favorite type of greens but he never has any luck growing them. He has tried.

ack. spinach is one of those deceptively easy things to not grow well.

three factors to make it happen:
- cool temps, but strong sunlight
- rich soil - it grows fasts - does not do well in nitrogen poor situations
- slight alkaline soil - in contrast to most vegetables, spinach likes a slightly alkaline condition.

it needs to germinate, grow, git ate fast. not a crop one can spread out over June & July. . . .

The rich soil alone could be doing him in then. He never does anything to replinish the soil.
