Yep, drugs are everywhere. At one time, even small towns were safe and immune. But today even small towns are as bad or worse than big ghettos! SUCH a shame...

I'm about 22 miles from a major port, and about the same from all the south coast line of Wales.

You can imagine how many inlets there are which cannot be patroled by the Coast Guard, Her Majesties Customs, The Royal Navy even The Royal National Lifeboat Institute cannot police the coast effectively.

Mind you the many take that GHB. Apparently it can be made from stuff bought from the cleaning goods shelf in the supermarket. It drives people crackers or so I'm told and apparently it can be made for pence.

I watched a television programme about it, a young girl while under the influence of this GHB pulled all her own teeth out with a house hold pliers. There was also a town not far from me where there was a high suicide count amongst 15 and 16 year olds. Initally it was thought to be some sort of black magic cult but it turned out to be a home made drug that was the cause. There was something like 18 suicides in a month.

RE: "I'm about 22 miles from a major port, and about the same from all the south coast line of Wales."

Part of what contributed to the severe drug problem at the fisherman's bunkhouse I managed in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Keziah, was also the fact that it was an International Port locale. TONS of people- not to mention vessels- coming and going all the time. So, I can identify with the locale you describe...

Here in Illinois farm country these days drugs are also more and more prevelant because so many of them are "cooked" in rural areas now, in hidden locations, using rural ingredients easily obtained from farms and such, like propane gas from the tanks most farmers have in their barn-yards.

It seems we cannot win, never mind where we live. We have a few small corner shops owned by muslims, not very far from where we live and they don't appear to adhere to the laws about the legal age for the sale of alcohol.

They have been prosecuted but still the council issues them their off licence permits to sell alcohol and tobacco.

The police are aware and are keeping an eye open but if the council still issues permits then they feel as if they are beating their head against a brick wall.

There are three houses that I know of that are almost openly selling drugs, the police know but are unable to pin anything on the residents. On giro day they have queues out side waiting to buy drugs. They may as well get a big neon sign saying "GET YOUR ILLEGAL DRUGS HERE".

Wow, Keziah- I thought Muslims were supposed to be pretty strict in regards to alcohol. That's a shame. Giving boose to young folks is SUCH a mistake on SO MANY levels- no matter what group or religion one belngs to.
