And Tom is an incredibly chauvinistic pig!
I think in her (Virginia's) mind - if she could motivate them, she could prove her abilities. Since that one girl was a friend of Heather's I really could not see her on Virginia's team, and I don't really think that Sara would have done any good for Virginia. Did you catch the way Sara was over-salting foods!!! Then, of course, she copped her attitue with "I made one mistake and (not proper for print)! I also didn't like the fact that Virginia was being pressured into "paying" if she won. Too bad they couldn't have better kitchen help. But from the beginning I said that Heather would win and she did. I saw it in her with the first segment. And I still cannot believe the caliber of individuals they actually put on that show for such a classy restaurant! And the expense they went through! All that waste, redecorating etc. I wonder what it cost to televise that whole show?
Well, I think the attitude of Virginia's team v. Heather's was a big factor. You have to be able to motivate people postively. You don't have to be their friend, but you do have to have their respect. When you respect someone, you support them and work hard for them. Not so for Virginia's team. And it's clear that goes both ways. She obviously did not respect them, so that bred disrespect for her as a chef.
I also think she thought they would work their hearts out for her! Someday I hope she has a restaurant of her own - I think she would be good at it - but not a fancy multi-million dollar restaurant - something she could control and is within her reach.
