What is Labour Day?

I remember something on a film once that mention not wearing white shoes before or was it after Labour Day.

I have to explain Labor Day: It is a day that we celebrate our laborers, and alot of businesses close and we have a 3 day weekend! Also kind of the official end of summer too, and all the kids are back in school.

The do not wear white shoes thing is just a fashion myth that you do not wear white shoes in the winter, it has it's place in recent history but is no longer adhered to.

I was using another one that I discarded.
I would never want to offend anyone with my choice of avatars.
I wish we could use animated avatars on this site. If we could use images with a .gif extension it would be great.
