Keziah- I have always loved working nights- or the "graveyard shift" as we often call it here in the states!
I was a chef in restaurants and hotels/resorts for years and worked mostly days. But pulled night shifts when I held baker/breakfast cook positions at several Alaskan oil camps. I loved arriving to a quiet (lonely) workplace at 8:00PM and leaving by 8:00AM just as people were arriving for their noisy, hectic day-shift!
I have since side-stepped out of kitchens and work at a second career in a completely unrelated field at the corporate headquarters of a huge insurance company in Illinois- 3 hours south of Chicago. I work in a secure department that monitors the security/alarm systems of insurance agents' offices around the nation. My hours are 12:00 midnight until 8:15AM and I love it!
