Just in time for the holiday gathering and lots of appetizers and dips to enjoy, I thought I would pass on a little something "extra" for those that love to double-dip, or get caught at doing it.

Double-dipping, for the uninitiated, is the act of dipping a chip into the dip, taking a bite and then dipping what remains of that chip back into the dip -- double-dipping. And there are a few people who are triple-dippers.

The question is....are bacteria/germs passed to the dip or is it safe? Check out the video for the answer:

I love dips - we all do - and when I serve dips I also serve little individual dip containers that can be refilled with the spoons from the big dip bowl - ditto with spreads which I serve with little spreaders - so if they lick the spreader or stick it in their mouth, they don't contaminate everyone else.

Then you can double dip all you want!

I saw that episode of Food Detectives. Yuck.
I think they covered how contaminated those bowls of pretzels and nuts are in bars in the same episode.

That episode made me never watch that show again. I was so grossed out.

Shelley - you sound like me - something like that I cannot watch - the tummy can't take it. And I don't want the lasting memories! LOL
