Dutch ovens

I'd like to ask for a dutch oven for Christmas but am not sure which kinds are good to choose from. Any suggestions/ideas in different price ranges? And do they break easily if dropped?
 
Do you have links to brands or reviews or anything? I need to tell my grandma something specific.
 
Sorry I don't Raquelita - it's just a cast iron Dutch oven that I purchased in the sporting goods department at a department store. I like the sporting goods department for pans and coffee pots - they usually last longer! I don't buy all my cookware there - but I do for cast iron and enamelware.

I think that there are two meanings to Dutch Ovens.

One is a heavy cast iron pot that may have a glass or iron lid. This Dutch oven is for baking in an oven, or stove top.

The other is a camp stove dutch oven that has feet for cooking over coals, and a recessed lid for holding hot coals on the lid. If this is what you are thinking of, get a heavy iron dutch oven instead of the aluminum ones. The light weight aluminum dutch ovens are inviting, but I think they that cook too fast.
 
The dutch ovens i've seen are by Le Cruset and are ceramic with bright outer colors like red or blue, they go on stovetops.
