I think that there are two meanings to Dutch Ovens.
One is a heavy cast iron pot that may have a glass or iron lid. This Dutch oven is for baking in an oven, or stove top.
The other is a camp stove dutch oven that has feet for cooking over coals, and a recessed lid for holding hot coals on the lid. If this is what you are thinking of, get a heavy iron dutch oven instead of the aluminum ones. The light weight aluminum dutch ovens are inviting, but I think they that cook too fast.
