Gas is around $4.00 here. That mountain bike I bought a few years ago really makes quick trips to the store a lot cheaper, especially since the rack in the back can hold quite a bit.
As the title of this thread suggests, rising food costs are making gardening more and more appealing too.

Rabbit tastes like chicken, huh! I wonder is it a pleasant flavor? I just wonder if I could get used to it. I am sure if it were prepared well then it'd be tasty! If not there is always Brunswick stew;)
Jafo good thing you have a bike! I tell you folks around here would kill someone on a bike, they all seem to have this obsession with talking on the cell phone while driving, and they drive like freaks who could care less. I watched one young woman handling a baby in a car carrier seat one day come out of Blockbuster, never quit talking the entire time, buckled baby in, got in car threw it in reverse and smacked into another lady also backing out right behind her, both were yaking away on their cellie's! I would rather walk, but boy I wish I could bike! You're lucky:)
I tell you the food prices are absolutley climbing every week! I keep stretching the garden bigger and bigger each week, and buying more and more seed, seems I want to be prepared for a fall crop now! Funny what climbing food costs will have us do!

The blindman keeps telling me we are getting a wagon so that I can walk and pull him behind. That is so not happening lol. With food prices raising so much we are eating more sandwiches. I cannot wait til the garden comes on. I love veggies. My husband wont touch them. He only eats fried green tomatoes and potatoes.

OK HERE'S THE PLAN.....DON'T LET HIM KNOW THIS CAME FROM ME OR HE WILL WANT US TO QUIT TALKING! LOL
BUT HERE'S THE WAY TO GET A STUBBORN "OLD MAN" TO EAT HIS VEGGIES:)....:o
WHEN THE SUMMER SQUASH AND THE ZUCCINI SQUASH GET RIPE, SLICE THEM REALLY THIN AND DIP IN A BATTER AND DEEP FRY, BEGIN DOING THIS WITH ALL HIS VEGGIES...OKRA, SQUASH, EGGPLANT, SWEET POTATOES (LEAVE OFF THE BATTER FOR THIS ONE) AND ON DOWN THE LINE WITH AS MANY VEGGIES AS YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH AND THEN SEE HOW HE LIKES THEM FRIED. WHY HECK MAKE A BIG PRODUCTION OUT OF IT=LIKE GO BUY A "FRY DADDY" AND GET ALL EXCITED OVER ALL THE NEW STUFF YOU CAN FRY IN IT! THEN AS TIME GOES ON GRADUALLY BEGIN TO MAKE THE SLICES THICKER (JUST IN MINUTE CENTIMETERS) AS TIME GOES ON HE WILL NOT EVEN NOTICE. AT THIS POINT YOU CAN MENTION SAY FOR INSTANCE EGGPLANT PARMESEAN FOR DINNER ONE NIGHT, EXPLAIN TO HIM THAT IT'S FRIED EGGPLANT TOPPED WITH MARINARA SAUCE AND FRESH GRATED PARMESAN CHEESE & THEN BROILED HE MIGHT GIVE IT A TRY AND I CAN PRETTY MUCH GUARANTEE HE WILL LOVE IT!!! NEXT THING YOU KNOW HE IS EATING VEGGIES & LOVING THEM. AND WHO KNOWS ONE DAY YOU MAY EVEN HAVE HIM ASKING YOU FOR A VEGETABLE LASAGNA, OR SOMETHING EXOTIC LIKE THAT!
NOW SINCE YOU PROBABLY HAVE A TALKING COMPUTER "THE CAT MAY ALLREADY BE OUT OF THE BAG", BUT IF NOT...WELL IT CAN BE OUR LITTLE SECRET. SOMETIMES HUBBY'S ARE FUSSIER THAN LITTLE CHILDREN ABOUT THEIR EATS. SORRY GUYS, BUT IT'S A FACT! AND WHAT'S A WIFE TO DO? WELL, JUST GOTTA' FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET 'EM TO TRY NEW THINGS! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO "EATING THEIR VEGGIES!"
GOOD LUCK JG; HOPE IT WORKS! CATHY
