I LOVE ranch dressing. Hidden Valley low fat is the only kind that tastes as good as the regular kind.
lol My father in law got 30 more tomato plants from Jons brother as part of his birthday present. He squeezed them into the garden. I should def be able to dry and can some tomatoes this season.

Has anyone heard this one?
They annnounced yesterday that Tyson is raising the price of all chicken products because of everything they could think of.
Chicken used to be a very expensive dish way back in the last century. Then it became one of the cheapest.
So we are stepping back in time once again.
Let's face it - there isn't one food product that is not going to rise, double or triple in price because of whatever reason they can think of next.
And if food is going to go up - so are all other "necessities" for the very same reasons and thensome.
It's no wonder people in America are now starting to hoard food!
Soon enough we'll be back to the Great Depression. This time it will be worse. In those days people helped one another and had a heart - today too many are self-centered and only think of ME, ME, ME.

Yah, those nasty businesses are not subject to the same price crunches that we face, so they just raise their prices for "whatever reason they can think of next."
At least in America they have food and commodities to stock up on (hoarding has not started....yet). In other countries they have nothing at all.

Dear Mama,
I must sadly say I couldn't agree with you more:( I would pray that maybe hard times will soften people's hearts and cause them to begin to have some compassion for one another! This whole topic of discussion is sad I must say, hopefully it will not be as bad as all that, but all the signs are certainly pointing in that direction.
I can remember all the stories my dear ole' Grandmother used to tell me about the depressions (she lived thru both) and I even have a ration book that belonged to my grandfather and her, it still has some unused stamps in it! Watching the movie "Grapes of Wrath" was scarrey to me!
As far as rising prices I really must say who can blame them! I mean the cost of fuel to transport our commodities and products has sky-rocketed to the point that someone has to raise prices somewhere to compensate. As hard as it is on our pocketbooks it must be.
My answer for my family is to cut down alot on driving unnecessarily, grow a garden, and raise chickens and possibly some rabbits too! I just am determined that my family will eat by Golly! Even if it is just dry beans & rice w/ biscuits:)
Well gotta go. Love ya', Cathy

there was an article on line last week - I wish I would have saved it - and it stated that many Americans are starting to hoard food - they are preparing for what is yet to come.
Everything has gone up in this country - except the job market. Part-time jobs just don't cut it anymore. There are no benefits with them either. Foreclosures are at an all time high and there is no end in site. Manufacturing jobs are all in China. And when you see "made in Canada" on an item - most likely it was made elsewhere for Canada.
forget looking for anything made in America. Pretty soon all pregnant women will have to fly to China to have their babies - it seems that anything made/born in America is just obsolete.
The greatest country in the world - and we are lacking in medical, education, housing, taking care of the elderly - you name it.
If I were 30 years younger I would move to another country. What freedom do we have here? Even when voting - our votes don't count - it's the powers that pick and chose.
If you want the government to take care of you - import yourself from another country - then they will house, feed, clothe and pay you to live here, start a business, get a PhD - you name it.
Our government would rather kiss ilegals butts so that they can dig into their paychecks and fill their pockets with tax money. They don't care if you can't feed your family - just keep paying your taxes.
I should hush - I'm a bit sour today..............
