I'm wondering if any of you have heard of this. I have always been able to eat shrimp, until recently. The last time I ate it, my throat got smaller and it was itchy. I can't eat lobster/crab. It makes me vomit, etc. Sorry if that was TMI. Aren't shrimp also considered a shellfish? I didn't think someone could have different allergic reactions to different types of shellfish. I also had never heard of someone developing an allergic reaction to a food in their adulthood.

It does happen - whether it is due to hormones or having children - many adults get weird allergies that they never had before. Just like a child out-growing some allergies - adults start to get allergies.

I'm sorry you have to go through this!

Thanks for that info. I never knew that could happen. Too bad too, because I LOVE shrimp. I guess now about the only seafood I can eat is fish; and I don't really like fish.:(

Too bad sarahlorrain you can't eat seafood (except fish). My cousin also have developed allergies to seafoods during her adulthood. She also gets rashes. Sometimes, she can't help eating a little of crab meat. She just always have her medicines ready.
