The holidays are quickly approaching which brings family dinners and get togethers. What are some of your favorite take along dishes? For Thanksgiving I make dinner for just Jon and I. His Dad goes to the other sons house for Thanksgiving. Christmas we do at his Dads and his Mom usually has dinnner on Christmas Eve or sometime around there. I always make the ham and the turkey but I still have to make several sides and some desserts.
I always make baked mac and cheese and roasted veggies. But I also try and go for sides that can be served cold or room temp. The ham I do the day before and reheat it.
Here are a few of my favs.
Deviled eggs
Potato Salad
Pasta Salad
Three Bean Salad
Coleslaw
Cheese Plate
Crudite Platter

I don't know about the rest of you but I always end up trying to do to much and wear myself out lol. Im always to beat to eat when the time comes lol.

I have a large extended family of friends so when the holidays roll around I alternate hosting with my friend Brian. He will take either Christmas or Thanksgiving and I will take the other. Then our friends and our families all come to my house or his. I know all of his family and his wife's they know mine and my husbands it's a really nice set up. If it's my turn I will make everything but he will bring a low carb dessert made with splenda because he and his mother in law have been atkin'sing for ages but my husband and I hate the taste of splenda. When it's his turn he makes everything but I make a dessert using real sugar in the raw. This year I think I'm going to make a recipe that I found recently for pie. It's pumpkin on the bottom and pecan on the top. What could be more perfect?
