Time For A Brief Diet?

WELL NOW THAT THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER ARE ANY OF YOU IN THE PREDICAMENT OF SHEDDING THOSE FEW EXTRA LBS. WE MAY HAVE PACKED ON OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS?

LAST NIGHT WAS BAKED GRECIAN STYLE FISH W/ FRIED CRAB & SHRIMP CAKES WITH A SALAD AND HOME MADE YEAST ROLLS.

TODAY IS A BANANA FOR B'FAST, A PKG. OF CRUNCHY GRANOLA BARS FOR MID-MORN SNACK AND A SALAD FOR LUNCH. NORMAL SUPPER FOR DINNER. WE WILL SEE IF EATING LIGHTER DURING THE DAY WILL HELP ME LOOSE A FEW:rolleyes: I WILL BE LEAVING OFF THE DESSERTS FOR A WHILE! AND OF-COURSE I EXCERCISE DAILY, JUST A 30 MIN WALK (1 MILE) AND THEN SOME FLOOR EXERCISES. KEEPS THE METABOLISM STOKED, SO THEY SAY!

Sounds nice and sensible!

I've knocked off the goodies completely for 2 weeks, more water and juice, plenty of fruits and veggies, fair amounts of protein - stretching and walking.

Lent is coming - so I will fast one day a week during Lent - just water, tea and juice. It doesn't hurt me at all and I feel great when I do it.

Hi MamaM,

Good advice, I never even thought of lent being right around the corner! Goodness time does fly, I am yet to believe another year has already slipped by! OH BOY!!!
When I was younger I could fast with ease now it's like....well..impossible! I know it is good for our soul and our body to fast once in a while, but when I am at work I have just got to eat, it's near about impossible to concentrate on my work if I'm hungry. Wow I sound like a real BABY!!! EEKS

Talk to you later, CCCAthy

Fasting does not mean going without entirely!

You need to drink water, fruit and veggie juices, tea/herbal tea. Even moderate coffee won't hurt.

My suggestion because of work - have tomato soup. It's still liquid.

Another suggestion - a friend of mine cannot go without eating late afternoon or evening. She can starve all morning and most of the afternoon - but by dinnertime she has to eat. So for her to fast - she takes a maximum strength dexatrim about 3 in the afternoon to kill the craving and just drinks liquids.

Works for her - she won't take the pills all the time - she doesn't trust them - but she will use them for a fast during Lent.

I know what you mean about time flying by - it feels like the holiday just ended and we are heading into Lent!

argggggggggggg!!

Dear MamaM,

Great input, I never thought of it as being possible to just do liquids. I've got to give it a try this year and the Good Lord willing I won't pass out :) LOL.

Of-course this cutting back on calories will only last 'til I shed the holiday lbs.;) and then back to normal daily diet.

I wish you were a neighbor I could enjoy doing our daily walks together; talking the whole way about our menu for dinner ha-ha!

Once again thanks a bunch for the great tips!

Dont' forget - you just said something about cutting back on calories only until you shed the holiday pounds - remember - it won't hurt on occasion to pass up the goodies for a day, nor will it hurt to do liquids one day a week for life!

I would love a nice long walk with some great company!!!

I know you are on-target about doing just liquids one day a week for life. I have heard the nutrition experts talking about our starvation hormones and various other terminology and all leading to the fact that our bodies never really needed to be fueled as wonderfully as we do "now-a-days" on a regular basis.

I am so fortunate I have my little doggie companion to walk with every day, and you know he is the most enthusiastic little thing about "going for a walk" every walk is an adventure for him:) I doubt I'd be as cosistent about walking if not for his company. It's funny what motivates us. Life certainly is grand!
