I have a friend who prepares a dessert everynight for after dinner. I have never done this. I usually will give the kids a snack before bed time to tie them over till the morning. If you do prepare a dessert is it something light or something heavy?

I hardly ever have dessert. I usually try to make the dinner big enough that there's really no room for dessert. If we're hungry before we go to bed, we'll grab a snack.

We rarely have dessert. Occasionally though, I'll make some homemade ice cream or cinnamon chips with honey. That's about the extent of our desserts at home.

I don't really believe in desserts all the time. Growing up it was a homemade pie, cake, cookies, etc. made just about every day; why not? After all bread was made every day of the week anyway so while the oven was on you may as well make more goodies. Now that I am older and the family is older - desserts aren't made every day. I stick in some nice jello dishes - jello is lighter. Even muffins can fill that craving. Of course I still make all kinds of desserts - but just not as often.

That is what we do in our house as well. The kids might have ice cream or popcorn before bed but not every night. I just couldn't imagine cooking a meal and then cooking a dessert. I really don't like to cook as it is. If I could I would eat out everynight. LOL
