Have any of you got this beautiful little cookbook out there? It is called "A Basket of Apples" By: Val Archer she also has one named "A Basket of Berries". I purchased mine on-line several years ago and was totally enamored with both. I originall saw them in an antique shop I browsed. They were too expensive so I went on-line and found them. These little cookbooks are truly an artisitic treasure!

Val Archer was born in England and studied art at the Royal College of Art. Her watercolor paintings grace each and every page of these lovely cookbooks. Not only is she a master of watercolor, but an accomplished cook as well. The recipes she has in each book are unique and include such ingredients as Elderberries, Tayberries, and the more common blueberries and strawberries. One recipe (I have never tried) that sounds exceptional is a Wild Mushroom Salad with Blackberry Vinegar. Of course the accompanying illustration for the recipe is simply beautiful enough for framing. I have many times been tempted to cut out some of my favorite pages and have the pictures mounted and framed!

If you love art and enjoy cooking, which you must if you have joined this forum :) try an on-line search and see if you can at least sneak a peek at these cookbooks. It is my understanding that they are no longer in print which is a shame. I guess I just got lucky enough to stumble across them and actually got to add them to my cookbook collection!
