Hawaiian Pork chops

4 pork chops, browned (drain excess fat)

Combine
1 (8oz) can pinapple chunks and juice
1/4 cup Ketchup (sometimes you may need to add more)
1 sall onion
salt and pepper.

Pour mixture over pork chops to cover. Simmer for 10 minutes. Turn the pork chops and baste. Stir in 1 mediun green paper, cut into 1 inch chunks. Cover and simmer 10-15 minutes longer or until the pork chops are tender. Thicken the sauce with cornstarch/water mixture.

These sound delicious. I'm going to try them this week. Would you serve them over rice? What else would you serve them with?

Wow that does sound good. I've always just fried pork chops with a little garlic salt, but since being here, I've learned to cook them with mustard, and now with pineapple. I've always cooked slices of ham in pineapple, and mix ham, and pineapple on pizza for a Hawaiian Pizza, but I've not connected that ham recipe to making pork chops, and yet it seems natural now.

Mama Mangia: Do you have a recipe for a pork roast 'Hawaiian'?

So I tried these pork chops today, and they are awsome. I'll be having these again. Thanks for the great recipe.

Mama! These were awesome. I had them a few nights ago and I loved them. I think it is going to be a new favorite around here.

Old Bay - is this the recipe you want??

PORK ROAST HAWAIIAN

1 (15 1/4 oz.) can pineapple slices
4 to 5 lb. pork loin roast (have butcher loosen backbone)
1/2 c. honey
1/3 c. Kikkoman soy sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. ginger

Drain pineapple slices and blend syrup with rest of ingredients. Roast in 325 degree oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. (I use meat thermometer.) Brush pork with marinade every 10 minutes and last 1/2 hour of cooking.

Heat remaining marinade and serve with roast. Serves 8.

HAWAIIAN ROAST LOIN OF PORK

6 to 7 lb. loin of pork
2 to 3 tbsp. finely chopped crystallized ginger
1/2 c. soy sauce

Make several slits at intervals in pork. Insert 1 or 1 1/2 tbsp. ginger divided into slits. Combine rest of ginger and soy sauce. Place pork, fat side up (let it rest on bone) in shallow roasting pan (without rack). Insert meat thermometer. Brush pork with part of soy mixture. For well done cook 1 hour 45 minutes or until thermometer reaches 185 degrees. Brush with soy mixture several times during cooking. Remove from oven. Let stand 20 minutes.

HAWAIIAN ROASTED PORK

1/2 tbsp. salt
1/2 tbsp. garlic salt
1/2 tbsp. ground fresh pepper
1/2 tbsp. oregano
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. soy sauce
2 (16 oz.) cans sliced pineapple
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

The day before roasting, mix the spices with the oil, sugar, soy sauce and the syrup from the pineapple cans. Marinate the meat thoroughly, perforating it slightly with a fork. Cover with plastic bag and let it stand in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place ham fat side up on a rack in a pan in the oven. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees. Cook uncovered 35 to 40 minutes to the pound. When almost done, arrange the pineapple slices on top and around the roast. Serve with glazed sweet potatoes and apples. Plain, white, fluffy rice is a very good side dish for this roast. Serves three to four persons per pound.

vp311 and mtmomj - I am very glad that you enjoyed the recipe!!
