And I can't find my 'as seen on TV' Bloomin Onion maker.

Try this:

4 large Vidalia onions
1/4 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup shredded (fresh) Parmesan cheese

Peel onions, leaving roots intact. Cut each onion into eighths, cutting just to the root, but not through. Place each onion on a lightly greased square of foil. Press butter into onions, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and cheese. Wrap in the foil then arrange in a 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Bake at 400 for about 1 hour.

another version:

1 cup flour
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 large California Fresh Egg
1/4 cup milk
1 large sweet onion -- thinly sliced

Mix flour, paprika, salt and cayenne. Separately mix egg and milk together well. Dredge onions in flour/spice mixture, then dip in egg-milk mixture and then toss back into flour-spice mixture. Separate into strings. Fry in oil at 375ºF. until golden brown. Drain well

Like ZING??

1/2c. Red Hot Sauce
1/2c. butter, melted or olive oil
1/4c. chili sauce
1T. chili powder
4 lg. sweet onions, cut 1/2 inch thick slices

In medium bowl, stir together Hot sauce, butter, chili powder and chili
sauce.

Brush mixture onto onion slices. Grill onions over medium high coals
for 10 mins. or until tender, turning and basting often with the chili
mixture.

I love onion rings and they are so much better when you make them from scratch. I hate it when I bite into an onion ring and the whole onion comes out of the breading. That never happens to me when I make them at home.
