Gooey Brownie Cake


3 eggs, divided
1 pkg (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
1 c milk
3 tbsp orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier, divided
1 pkg (1 lb 5.2 oz) fudge brownie mix
1/4 c orange juice
1/4 c oil, preferably canola
1 tsp grated orange zest
3/4 c chocolate frosting
3/4 c heavy cream, divided
orange slice wedges, optional

Preheat oven to 350ยบ. Butter and flour 9" round cake pan. Separate 1 egg; set aside. In bowl with mixer at low speed beat pudding mix and milk until thickened, 2 minutes. Beat in yold and 2 tbsp liqueur; set aside. In another bowl stir together dry brownie mix, juice, oil, zest, egg white and remaining eggs until just combined. Pour half of batter into pan. Spoon reserved pudding mixture into center of batter; top with remaining batter. Bake 50 minutes. (Center will be soft.) Cool 30 minutes in pan on rack. Run knife around edge of cake to loosen. Invert onto serving platter. In pot heat frosting with 1/4 c cream over low heat, stirring, until smooth and pourable. Pour over cake, smoothing sides with spatula. Beat together remainnig cream and liqueur until set; transfer to pastry bag fitted with star tip. Pipe rosettes or spoon whipped cream around top. Garnish with orange slices.
