All summer long, my Mom used to put-up quarts of bread n' butter pickles and these were perhaps her most special winter treats for us, growing up. Her recipe called for brown sugar- rather than white sugar, and she doubled-up on the sliced onions and mustard seed. These crunchy, deeply-rich-tasting pickles were fantastic on hamburgers and ham/swiss sandwiches on rye.

I'm a huge fan of pickles of all kinds... What's your favorite manner of summer pickle-making?

Oh how I love pickles. All kinds of pickles. They are my favorite snack. I love Tony and Tina's spicy bread and butter pickles. I love Meijer brand zesty dills, Windy City Wasabeans (pickled green beans w/wasabi), pickles brussels sprouts, hot pickled cauliflower all manner of stuffed olives, capers, cornichons, Indian pickled radishes, bread and butter squash pickles that my aunt makes, fresh pickles that you get just from soaking cut up cucumbers in water, vinegar and salt for an hour our so. mmm mmm!

Oh and I almost forgot I never met a pickled beet I didn't like. :D

It is getting about that time. The cucs are about an inch long. I am making garlic dills which my father in law really liked from last year. They were my fav too.
I am also pickling beets and banana peppers. I have to pick up a couple more cases of jars tomorrow.
