I can't believe you didn't have one before this. An instant-read with remote probe is such a useful (some would say essential) part of your kitchen gear.

One suggestion: Remove the clip and keep it in your junk drawer. It is rarely needed, in my experience, and just gets in the way as it counterbalances the probe, and causes it to tear loose.

Only time the clip works is if you're measuring liquids in a pot, or some such. And how often do you do that? Only time I need to do that is when making yogurt, and I have a separate thermometer for that.

In two years I have yet to use the clip for anything.

Ball Blue Book of Preserving is the canning bible and BallĀ® has just come out with their new 100th Anniversary copy with a Peach design on the cover. The older book has a Blueberry design. Get a copy and it has all the information to learn how to preserve your own foods.
