Everyone knows I am the resident gadget addict but I was wondering how many of us have tried gadgets that have actually worked?
I have had Nuwave Oven since around March 2008. I of course did not do my research which would have told me the plastic domes on the first model NuWaves are bad to crack. Having had mine for over 2 years I have tried to be careful and not use it for long at a time to avoid the cracking. Mine of course started getting the hairline cracks at the bottom at about the year and a half mark. Now it has a much larger crack at the top where the motor is. I figure at this point is has a half dozen or so roasted chickens left in it before it cracks out totally. It cost me around a hundred bucks and I got about two and a half years out of it.
I liked the thing so much so that about a year ago I went ahead and bought a second one I caught on sale to replace this one when it dies. It is perfect for roasting 4-5 pound chickens and lots of other things for the two of us. It is very easy to cleanup and is quiet. Before I had used my Ronco Rotisserie for roasting chickens which did a great job but was loud and very hard to clean. That guy lies like a dog when he says it wipes clean. My Ronco is in a box in the corner for now.
I have also gotten the Flavor Wave. Works great and has the glass dome which I wish my Nuwave had.
A small but awesome gadget my father in law and I both love are the Titan Peelers. Those things are fantastic! I also got my father in law and myself a couple of those little Vidalia Slice Wizards which after a year still work great. I have a more expensive mandoline but find myself grabbing the Vidalia because it is so much lighter and easy to clean.
The last thing I picked up for the kitchen is a rice cooker/food steamer a few weeks ago.
