Cool weather beverages

Now that the cool weather is here - what are some of your favorite "cool weather" beverages?

Of course I am a big tea drinker - but this is the season I drink more hot chocolate. Sometimes with marshmallows, sometimes with whipped cream, sometimes plain.

What do you like?

Hi Mama, I like Hot Chocolate to sometimes I add some Bailey's Irish Cream to it. I also like it in coffee. Cookie :)

Good question, mama- but to tell you the truth- I never got into the habit of drinking anything hot. Weird, I know. It's not that I dislike any of it- just rarely think to make it or order it anywhere... coffee, cocoa, hot tea, spiced cider- none of it. My two standbys are pretty much diet pepsi and water.

I gotta have my Coffee year round but when cooler weather comes I enjoy Hot cocoa.

White Hot Chocolate

Here is a recipe I make for winter guests or just a long cold winter night.
White Hot Chocolate

2 cups half and half
2/3 cup white chocolate chips
1 dash cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

In a medium saucepan combine 1/4 cup of half and half, white chocolate, cinnamon and nutmeg; whisk over low heat until chocolate is melted. Add remaining half and half. Whisk until heated through. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and almond extract. Serve warm in mugs; sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Makes 2 servings.

Hi Figgenbama,

Great recipe thanks for posting it!

Hey we may live pretty close to you, I am in Rome, GA. Are you near Fort Payne? I love the area around DeSoto State Park, it is so pretty. My little one and I go over to a dude ranch just outside of the park and go horseback riding! That is such a nice area of Alabama, but I lived in South Alabama near Gulf Shores & Mobile for years!

Welcome to our forum, Cathy

I have a whole cabinet full of tea so there is a lot of hot tea at my house this time of year. I do mulled wine for parties which is always a hit. Also I enjoy the occational hot buttered rum.
