Have a Great Weekend Guys!

How was everyone's holiday weekend? I just got in after going "away" up to St. Charles, Illinois on the lovely Fox River. My sis and I went flea-marketing. My Dad, his wife and my niece & nephew shopped for school clothes at outlet malls, and we all took long walks along the river, ate several fine meals out- as well as at our camp-site over the camp-stove, and just in general had a nice relaxing weekend! Hope you all did, as well!

Glad you had a great weekend, Kevin.

We spent ours worrying about Gwynn. Had her in for emergency surgery on Friday (just what we need over a holiday weekend) due to a uterine infection that, it turns out, is fairly common in dogs but which if not caught can kill them. Had to have her spayed. And, while doing that, the vet discovered a growth on her small intenstine, and that had to be removed.

Not a fun time for us. And even less for her, I reckon.

Wow, sorry Brook. Ugh... BUT- as yuchy as that was- the doc might never have discovered that growth Gwynn had, otherwise... so that's good, at least!

By the by, Kevin, you really missed the fun.

Mama got her ruler out and started swatting a few appropriate knuckles.

Bought New Bird!

I had a good weekend, bought a bird she's lime green :D with a yellow head. :) I was thinking of calling her skittles or gum drop or starburst. She looks like candy, the color of m&m's, or jelly beans (jelly belly) She's cute! Cookie :)

Your new bird sounds beautiful Cookie and I think all of those names are cute.

Pick up any goodies at the flea markets Kevin? I found a crystal crudite platter at our flea market for $1 the other day. Got a couple other things but the crudite platter was my best deal. Brook's right..MamaNator got out the big guns and you missed it all.

How is your dog doing now Brook? I dont think I ever knew but what kind of dog do you have?

She's a Lewellyn Setter, Janie. Ten years old and a nose that won't quit.

She's doing as well as can be expected after major surgery. Thanks for asking.

She's finally started eating. And she's fairly animated, and in good spirits. Doc didn't think the mass was cancerous. He says it looked more like an inflamed diviticular. But we'll let the lab tell us for sure.

Meanwhile, she's on antibiotics. And the stitches come out next Monday.

Thank's The Bird is Beautiful! I guess I'm really for the "BIRDS"!

I'm sorry to hear about (KY) Dog. Cookie

I think Lewellyn Setters are beautiful dogs. Give her a scratch behind the ears from me. I hope she gets better soon and I have my fingers crossed the tests come back non cancerous.

What kind of bird is it Cookie?
I always loved peach faced lovebirds. I could have gotten two once but my landlord would have thrown a fit ..not to mention Jon is allergic to feathers.

Sorry to hear about your Dog Ky...hope she recovers fast.
Well our weekend was stressfull to say the least Kev...Hurricane Gustave kept us on our toes. It hit the coast of Ms and La.....yesterday and today we had Flash Floods and Tornado warnings. It is still raining but the winds have gone down.

My bird is a parakeet. I think Love birds are so cute too. I have allergies to cat's, not really bad though. Cookie :)

Sorry to hear about Hurricane Gustave, know that you are in my prayers. Cookie

RE: "Pick up any goodies at the flea markets Kevin?"

Your crudite platter sounds neat, janie. I like to find fun serving pieces at such places too. Great places to find such treasures!

I found nothing food-related, but I did buy many antique photo & art frames that my sister and I use to frame stitched quotes that we make for family and friends for Christmas.

Also picked-up many antique porcelain door knobs that I've slowly been replacing mine w/ in my condo. My condo building is a beautiful, old renovated building. The individual townhouses contain a lot of the original old charm- but in mine the lovely heavy oak doors all had their orignal hardware switched-out w/ new. Gradually I'm getting it all returned to vintage, period stuff.
