Actually, to me it is and was a blessing ~ in fact I am grateful to an extent of the experience ~ why??? Because of it, I was determined NOT TO BE THAT WAY and too, not to be that way at all to anybody. I pity all mother in laws who are that way, they are forfeiting what years they have left on bitterness, selfishness, and down right controlling to the point of meanness~ I avowed a long time ago I would not be bitter and controlling.

So that is a blessing to me and for all the people who were, are, and will be treated kindly because of my disdain for deliberate meanness ~ which I attribute greatly to my first MIL and now with my current MIL.

Well I won't have to deal with mine until Christmas when we go to Germany but I have learned to just pretend I don't understand a word she says since it's all in German.

Same here...wont have to deal with mine again til she does her Christmas dinner. She has them all come to her place for dinner and she gives the three grandkids their presents. Im still stuffed up from Jons Dads. He uses coal/wood in the winter and Im allergic to coal. He uses a smaller gas heater along with them but that coal always messes with my allergies.
