Good for you Kevin! When they grow up, they will remember this and hopefully will teach the next generation.
I was reading posts on our local newspage from people who live in Huntington and had watched the show. Every single one of them were shocked at how badly Jamie Oliver had been treated by the principal and cafeteria workers in Huntington.
There is a local radio station there that has a good ol boy DJ that did alot to keep the animosity going towards Jamie while he was there. The ladies who work in the cafeteria rolled their eyes at Jamie and several especially the head lunch lady were down right confrontational with him. Huntington can be a bad area anyway. The last time we were there was a year ago when Jon had to have dental surgery. I wouldnt even drive in that town. Jon's stepdad took us. Everytime I watch the news someone in that city has been murdered.
I understand that processed packaged garbage is quicker and takes less employees to prepare there for saving the schools money but when are they going to decide our children are worth the investment?

I am dead set against those lunches. Children's bodies are growing and they need sufficient nutrients, vitamins, minerals - all which they do not get from microwaved crap.
I'd love to be a top official in that town - I would fire everyone in the cafeteria - or should I say - "the warmin room" - and I would hire COOKS, and make them prepare hot lunches, with fruits and milk - not junk foods and pop
I'd see to it that those children ate foods that were cooked and not nuked and that they had a selection of veggies, etc. don't like peas? fine you can have corn or carrots - and school breakfast would not be poptarts!
They were serving the kids premade breakfast pizza at one point in the show. They even told Jamie that pizza qualified as two veggies going by the regs they have to follow. They even gave him a hard time for serving rice instead of a bread. He ended up having to offer the kids hamburger buns to go with the fresh meals he had prepared in order to meet the regulations. The hamburger buns were already in the kitchens pantry.
