I can't stand it with the Food Network. With PBS, a cooking show is very easy to watch online.Even the recipes for an episode can be found on the chef's sites.

Trying to find anything on Jamie's Show The Food Revolution.... Everything has a price on it. Every UTube video is just a promo.

Wake up world! There is a problem out there with unhealthy eating and we are starting a revolution against it. We have an Englishman here in America starting that "REVOLUTION", lmao. Jamie needs a red apron. And to join the "REVOLUTION" it's going to cost you no matter how we can get you to participate!!

poor guy - what else could he have done? they could have treated him better and explained the ease of their cooking and what is available in those lousy meals and they could have handled it much better than they did

I wonder about that. many/most/all? public schools get Federal aid - specifically to feed kids when the parents can't afford 'lunch money'

it's a slippery slope - once the Feds get their hooks into it, the schools must follow the Federal rules and regs in toto - no exceptions no matter how the school district feels about it. and from time to time "the regs" get pretty stupid sounding.

there is of course the "breakfast at school" Federal program - for kids that don't get fed before they come to school . . . like the comedians say, you can't make this stuff up. 50 years ago poor kids may have come to school hungry, but they were not dropped off in their mom's Lexus.

Good to finally catch the 2 rpisodes out on Fancast.

First, to try and buck government mucky mucks with what they have determined to be food is probably a lost cause. Specially when they were the ones to consider catsup as a vegetable.

I think Jamie needs to rethink his approach to the matter. Changing eating habbits to a city is changing a life style. Work with what's avaliable and give the people what they are use too. The school food industry can have a lot of power over what is produced and supplied when you look at the numbers of children they feed daily.
I am sure that even processed foods like instant potatoes can be much healthier than what was being supplied on episode 1 and with the buying power of the school food programs I'm sure better could be purchased at the right price. The demand could dictate the price. What Food industry leader would turn down supplying this kind of market? The same with making a chicken nugget more healthy?
I am not going to knock pizza as part of a meal though because if made proper it can be considered healthy. The same goes for a pasta and meat sauce or even for that matter, sloppy joe's. There is no need for french fries to be on a school lunch menu I will agree. The same goes for tater tots.

Take the menus that are there and work to make them healthier by changing the ingredients used. Educate the children through appropriate classes. Let them help by making a menu of their own for once a week with the choices they learn in class. If the children feel involved and creative I would wage that preparring and serving what they chose wouldn't end up in the garbage. That information can be carried home to their families and spread through the community.
